Mechanic
auburn hair, light hazel eyes Not everyone can afford the expensive protection that magic or the graduates of the Academy provide; for the masses, there are alternative means of surviving. This is precisely Devonte N. Gearhart's area of expertise. But the world is a dangerous place, and alliances are sometimes necessary, even if unwanted. Devonte is a bit of an asshole. His ego is enormous — which happens sometimes when you're a genius in your field. He's very good at all things relating to mechanics, and is credited with the development of the first independent Android with fully functional, sentient AI (he had some help from Sheol). Always looking out for himself, Devonte usually comes off as heartless, cold, and calculating — which isn't entirely inaccurate. |
Warlock
black hair, golden eyes Sheol is generally extremely taciturn and mysterious. He only reveals personal information on a need-to-know basis, which, considering he by and large keeps to himself, tends to be extremely rare. He is a powerful magic-user, feared by most of the magic-using community that know of him. He left training fairly young in favor of gaining more practical knowledge. He was disgusted by the ornate garb he was required to wear and the ceremonies and other useless traditions he had to follow. He prefers to live on his own, working freelance. Sheol is an old rival-turned-friend of Devonte’s. They met after Sheol left school. He strongly disliked Devonte at first, but they developed a respect for each other's work, and were forced to do jobs alongside one another a few times. They eventually developed a strong friendship that changed both of them. Now when times get rough, he can always count on Devonte for a place to crash, and Devonte nearly always has some work for him to do in return. |
Alcinder. blonde, Fire magic student at the Academy
Alcinder is a magic-user in the same class as Niwen at the Academy. She specializes in fire, but lacks control and is spectacularly dreadful at the other elements. Alcinder is unique, however, in that she's not half bad at fighting and other forms of melee combat and martial arts. She's probably the only magic-user at the school who's had any kind of training in physical defense, and sometimes it gives her an edge. Calin Walcott. dark brown hair, green eyes, freckled, student at the Academy Walcott is a classmate of Zahir's, although she comes from a modest background and isn't quite up to Zahir's skill level — her parents couldn't afford to send her to prep school before the Academy. However, numerous street brawls throughout Walcott's childhood prepared her sufficiently to pass the exams for the Academy. Wal and Zahir get along well, despite how little either of them seem to talk. They have a language of their own, though, as top students of the Academy. When Alcinder and Walcott first meet, they absolutely hate each other. Cinder thinks Wal is a complete know-it-all, as well as a pompous jerk, and Wal barely acknowledges Cinder, seeing her as a naive, incompetent idiot not worthy of her time. However, after being paired together in one of their classes, they see that there is more to each other than they first thought, and slowly learn to respect one another. |
